His novel, “Winter’s Bone”, has been in the news lately because the film version won at Sundance.

Woodrell also wrote “Ride with the Devil,” a novel set during the civil war on the Missouri-Kansas border. That book was also made into a movie, and it was directed by Ang Lee.
